Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Miguel Antonio Jr. has commended policemen for a job well done in the region in safeguarding the celebration of  New Year’s Eve.

Antonio said that the celebration was generally peaceful.

“ Maganda ang nangyari nung New Year.  Result ito nang maagap ne preparasyon. Very commendable ang performance nang joint Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines operations na nag resulta na mapayapang  celebrasyon”, Antonio said.

The police director said the celebration and the situation were very manageable and under control.

During the celebrations, the region was on full alert status and policemen were on 24/7 duty on their post while other troopers and police teamswere on random patrol double checking every exit and entry of their areas of jurisdiction.

But there was one hardheaded person who fired a gun illegally in Pagadian City.

The Pagadian City Police Station reported that one male victim was hit by a stray bullet in his little finger. He was given medical treatment in a hospital in the city.

Dapitan City Police Station also reported that one male victim was injured by a premature firecracker explosion.

PRO-9 spokeperson Chief Insp. Roger Alabata said hat there was no policeman or soldier involved in indiscriminate firing.

“ The celebration was generally peaceful. The police and military jointly secured the region in each command,” Alabata said.

PRO9 Deputy Regional Director for Operation Sr. Supt. Debold Sinas also said that PNP Chief Dir .Gen. Ricardo Marquez extended his congratulations to all policemen in country for a job well done. — Allen Abastillas
