Some 578 business permits have been processed by the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) as of Wednesday, January 5, the second day of the renewal period utilizing the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) initiative.

Of the total permits processed, 561 were for renewal while 17 were new business ventures. Number of issued business permits is 87.

Licensing Officer Benjie Barredo has appealed to the business community to renew their permits as early as possible to avoid the rush.

Renewal of business permits went on full blast starting Monday, Jan. 4 to 20, as the city rolls out for the second straight year the BOSS initiative with the intention of making registration and renewal process more convenient and efficient.

Comparing data of the number of clients served on the first day of the renewal, the BPLO recorded 246 applicants in 2015 and 347 applicants in 2016 (Jan. 4-Monday). The second day, Jan. 5 had 101 applicants.

Office hours for all agencies and offices involved in the renewal and registration process will be extended from 8am to 8pm Monday- Friday and from 8am to 5pm on holidays, Saturdays and Sundays starting today, Jan. 4 to Jan. 20.

Deadline for the renewal of business permits is January 20.  Late filers will be meted with 25% surcharge per quarter and 2% additional surcharge per month. — Sheila Covarrubias
