The gasoline and fuel controversy at the City Council is under investigation.

City Legal Officer Judge Jesus Carbon said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is currently investigating the criminal aspect of the controversy while a panel of investigators from the local government is handling the investigation for the administrative aspect.

“The City Council is hurrying us up…we are doing so as early as possible,” Carbon told local media Monday, January 7.

Carbon said evidences pertaining to the gas and fuel controversy, some of which are still in the hands of the NBI, were voluminous and needed to be sifted.

The gas and fuel controversy arose when a reported excess in the issuance of gas slips from 2008-2011 in the City Council leading to a P 1.2 million debt was uncovered last 2014.

Meanwhile, Carbon also disclosed that the City Government recently received the recommendation of the Liga ng mga Barangay on the matter of the positive result of Licomo barangay chairman Eduardo Caloyloy in the drug test conducted by the Liga under the directive of its president, Councilor Jerry Perez.

“We received the recommendation from the President of the Liga ng mga Barangay [Councilor Jerry Perez] requesting for the formal investigation against the barangay chairman,” reported Carbon.

He said the request has already been referred to a legal officer for investigation. —Jasmine Mohammadsali
