PAGADIAN CITY – The 2016 Regatta Steering Committee headed by Councilor Bienvenido C. Culve has lined up five main events for this year’s sea sporting events to be held at the city port here on Jan. 15.

In a meeting held Tuesday with the committee members, Culve disclosed that the five main events include pump boat race for 9hp below and for 10hp and above, triathlon, “scubasurero,” and ball collection at sea.

It was also learned that participants from the neighboring cities of Dipolog, Iligan and Cagayan de Oro are coming for the invitational pump boat race for 10hp and above with prizes of P50 thousand and a pump boat engine for the champion, P40 thousand for the second placer, P30 thousand for the third placer and P1,000 consolation prize for each of the non-winners.

For the pumpboat race 9hp below category, the cash prizes are P10 thousand for the first placer, P8 thousand for the second placer, P6 thousand for the third placer and a consolation prize of P500 for each of the non-winners.

Triathlon winners will receive P5 thousand for first prize, P3 thousand for second prize, P2 thousand for third prize and a consolation prize of P500 for each of the non-winners.

For “scubasurero,” the winners will take home P5 thousand for first prize, P3,750 for second prize and P2,500 for third prize.

A total prize of P5 thousand has also been allocated for ball collection at sea competition.
