CHED declares WMSU ‘Center of Development’ PDF Print E-mail

The Commission on Higher Education has declared Western Mindanao State University as a Center of Development for various disciplines, in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act No. 7722 otherwise known as the Higher Education Act of 1994 and by virtue of Commission En Banc Resolution Nos. 709-2015 dated December 1, 2015 and 766-2015 dated December 14,2015.

CHED Commissioner Patricia B. Licuanan as chairperson signed the CHED Memorandum Order No. 38 series of 2015 issued on December 25,2015 as per recommendation of the Technical Panels. Other awardees are Mariano Marcos State University in Batac, Ilocos Norte of Region I, Southern Luzon State University in Lucban, Quezon  Reg. IV-A, West Visayas State University in Lambunao, Iloilo and University of Southeastern Philippine in Apokon, Tagum City.

Central Luzon State University in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija Region III, University of the Philippines Los Baños Laguna in Reg. IV-A and Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Bukidnon Reg. X were also declared Center of Excellence in Veterinary Medicines.

WMSU President Milabel E. Ho was elated by the CHED declaration as she she thanked the agency for the recognition.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ho commended  Mark Anthony Bucoy and Valerie Jane Salvador after making it to the Top 7 during the recently held Nursing Board Examination with Grades of 85 percent and Farisia Buhari who also ranksNo. 9 with a Grade of 84.60 percent. WMSU ranks No. 10 in Nursing Board Examination which is presided by the Philippine Regulation Commission.

Bucoy, Salvador and Buhari are first timers in taking the board examination.

In another development, WMSU ranks No. 9 in the entire Philippines in 20 board examinations severally  presided by the Philippine Regulation Commission. — Allen Abastillas
