A 47-year-old woman was hacked to death by her step-son in Barangay Culianan before sunset last Monday.

Culianan Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon identified the fatality as Josephine Rojas y Luna, married. She sustained multiple hack wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Rojas was hacked by Joseph Eugenio y Olazo, 27, who surrendered after the incident.

Eugenio told DZT that around 5:30 p.m. Rojas, whose residence nearby  his set garbage on fire.

Eugenio compalined to Rojas about the thick smoke and flames that could start a fire.

Their conversation turned into  a heated argument that led to the bloody confrontation after Eugenio grabbed a bolo and hacked Rojas in the different parts of the body.

Eugenio further revealed that since his mother died and their father lived with Rojas together, they have never been happy together.

Eugenio added that their father used to beat them following wrong reports from Rojas.

Solon said that a case of murder will be forwarded to the city prosecutor office during an inquest against Eugenio. – Dan Toribio Jr.
