A public school teacher and her husband were killed in a road accident along Lobregat Highway in Cabaluay last Wednesday night.

Police identified the fatalities as Concepcion Flores y Puyawan, 56, a grade six teacher of Sta. Maria Central School and her husband Edward Flores y Bayot, 56.

Concepcion sustained broken bones in the body, while her husband was taken to the hospital where he expired while undergoing treatment.

Investigation disclosed that around 8:30 p.m. Edward was driving a Haojue motorcycle with his wife as backrider negotiating the highway in Cabaluay on their way to the city proper when they were accidentally sideswiped by a Fuso truck of the Richton Motor Sales Corp.  driven by Joel Monceda y Rocel, 41, married, of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

When the couple crashed on the road, the truck driver sped away towards city proper but was nabbed by operatives of the Culianan Police Station and Divisoria Police Station in Barangay Divisoria.

The bodies were brought to the Saint Peter funeral parlor while the truck driver was detained at the police station.

Police have readied charges against Monceda in court. – Dan Toribio Jr.
