The Zamboanga City Economic Zone (ZAMBOECOZONE) will be holding simple rites to honor the fallen 44 PNP- Special Action Force (SAF) troopers on Monday, January 25 at the ZFA Conference Room, on the occasion of the first year commemoration of the Mamasapano massacre. The commemorative rites will include the unveiling of the SAF marker at the ECOZONE as tribute to the 44 SAF troopers as well as an expression of gratitude to the 55th Special Action Force Company under the 5th Special Action Force Battalion of the PNP-SAF whose forces have provided security to the Ecozone for the past two years. The 5th SAB will have their forced march from Ayala to the Ecozone at 9 AM. This will be followed by a Eucharistic mass and the unveiling of the SAF marker inside Ecozone at 10 AM. Expected to attend the ceremonies are City Mayor Beng Climaco and local officials as well as members of the security forces in the City. Forty four police officers from the PNP SAF were killed during an 11-hour firefight with members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25, 2015. According to CNN Philippines, the Senate is set to reopen the Mamasapano probe on January 27 following the decision of the Committee on Rules to reopen the hearing on the Mamasapano clash. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
