Operatives of the Highway Patrol Group -9 recovered on Monday  a carnapped Toyota Innova along San Jose Road.

As HPG-9 men led by SPO1 Joemar Lacastesantos and PO2 Idris Andong and PO1 Mark Joseph Ybañez were conducting  an anti-carnapping operation,  they spotted and flagged down a metallic Toyota Innova model 2011 with plate number TJQ 572 having no Land Transportation Office sticker for the current year and heavily tinted mirror.

When the highway lawmen checked it with the HPG Motor Vehicle Management Information System, they found out that the vehicle is in the list of alarm and stolen status under alarm number 20131021.

The owner,  a certain A. M. Del Rosario  of Cabanatuan City had reported to HPG that it was forcibly taken by unidentified persons in Nueva Ecija on July 9, 2013.

When the driver was informed that the vehicle is under a stolen status, he said he does not know the status of the vehicle and its history.

The driver told the HPG-9 men that he is only a driver. He voluntarily surrendered the Innova.

Sr. Supt. Joel R. Dimaano, HPG-9 chief, instructed Sr. Insp.  Mervin Claret to impound the vehicle and conduct further investigation and also coordinate with the Crime Laboratory 9th for the macro-etching examination. — Allen Abastillas
