A cigarette vendor miraculously survived an alleged “salvage” attempted in Barangay Lunzuran at dawn yesterday.

Randy Guanti, 35, married, of Sta. Catalina, sustained a bullet wound in the left arm and several injuries in the head and body.

A police report disclosed that Guanti together with his wife and other companions were taking their dinner along Tomas Claudio Street around 9 p.m. Sunday when an L300 vehicle with unidentified men aboard appeared and suddenly stopped in front of them.

Guanti told the police that men aboard the vehicle alighted and dragged him to the vehicle.

Guanti said that when he was inside the vehicle the suspects mauled him until he fell unconscious.

He added that when he woke up they were already in a secluded area somewhere in Lunzuran when the suspects shot him hitting in the left arm.

However despite the injuries and gunshot wound, he managed to run until he reached Central Police Station where he reported the incident.

Guanti suspects that the perpetrators were policemen. – Dan Toribio
