At least 15 marines were wounded after their vehicle was hit by an improvised landmine in Barangay Lagtoh, Talipao, Sulu Thursday morning.

Troops of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 10 were on a road convoy around 6:40 a.m. heading for Barangay Kuhaw coming from Barangay Katian, Indanan when ran IED planted as landmine exploded.

The 15 soldiers were wounded after they were hit by fragments and debris from the explosion.

The wounded marines were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

A military report said that the roadside bombing was perpetrated by some 20 Abu Sayyaf Group guerrillas, five of who were identified as Amrin Absara, Abral Alih, a certain Asaral, all under Radulan Sahirun, Tala Jumsah, under Amah Maas and Jumidin Wali under Jahan Sawadjaan.

Meanwhile, soldiers of the 10th Infantry Battalion led by Lt. Col, Jacinto encountered underdetermined number Abu Sayyaf gunmen  around 7:45 a.m., in Sulu.

The firefight lasted for five minutes after which the gunmen withdrew to an undisclosed direction.

Around 12:15 p.m. yesterday, 10thIB troops clashed with Abu Sayyaf militants under Radulan Sahiron at Sitio Banglot, Sinumaan, Patikul, Sulu while the group of Hajan Sawadjaan was sighted at Sitio Hagas-Hagas in the  same municipality.

The group of Idang Susukan was also spotted in Barangay Mabuhay, Talipao.
