‘Dia’ sports fest slated Feb 2-28 PDF Print E-mail

The Sports Development Division under the City Mayor’s Office has released the schedule and venue of the Dia de Zamboanga Sports Festival 2016, a sporting event included in the series of activities lined up for the upcoming celebration of the city’s charter anniversary.

According to City Sports Development Officer Dr. Cecilia Atilano, a total of 9 sports events will be held in succession from February 6 to 28 at various locations.

This year’s sports festival will kick off with a volleyball tournament that will run from February 6 to 28. The volleyball games will be held at the ZCMHS/Sta. Maria/Tetuan.

Karatedo participants will vie for top honors on February 13 at City Mall, Tetuan while badminton players will meet from February 19-21 at the Summit Centre, Tetuan.

The city’s (swimmers) will swim their way to victory on February 20-21 at the Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex.

Basketball teams will battle on the hard court on February 24-26 at the VitalianoAgan Coliseum, Tetuan.

Meanwhile, archers will aim for the bull’s eye while softball players will collect homeruns on February 25-26 at Talungon, San Roque and Sta. Maria Central School, respectively.

The sports festival will cap off with a bowling three-day tourney at Tebby& Sean, Caminsthat will start on February 26.

The Dia de Zamboanga Sports Festival 2016 is part of the city government’s efforts to encourage the populace to engage in physical activities.— Claudine Uniana
