Vice President Jejomar C. Binay arrived in the city yesterday afternoon to formally welcome the local opposition group into his political party the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan otherwise known as the PDP LABAN.

The oath-taking was held at the Astoria Hotel where many local opposition personalities and some of their leaders in the different barangays of the city converged.
Former Vice Mayor Mannix Dalipe and Councilor Rommel Agan led the local opposition in the oath-taking together with Councilors Jawo Jimenez, Mel Sadain, Rudy Bayot, former Councilors Atty. Kim Elago and Jihan Edding.

Also joining the group are Former Vice Mayor Susan Delos Reyes, Former Councilor Gerry Acuna, and more or less a hundred barangay leaders and other personalities.
Engr. Salvador R. Ty, party Vice President for NCR-A, Rufina G. Arcega, Chairman of Party Institute, and Astravel P. Naik, party Deputy Executive Director conducted the four hour Basic Membership Seminar for the new members of the local PDP LABAN.

In his message to the newly inducted local members of his party, the Vice President stressed the importance of loyalty to the party. Binay also said the vision and mission of the party is what is needed for the continuous progress of the Philippines.

Binay said many other elected officials already expressed their intention to join the PDP LABAN, but he advised them to defer their affiliation so as not to have any political problem with the present administration.

Binay welcomed the new members to the party expressing hope that they will live up to the expectations of the PDP LABAN.
Meanwhile former Vice Mayor Mannix Dalipe said in an interview that the local opposition group will fully support all the programs and projects of Vice President Binay. He said the ideals and beliefs of the local opposition are very much within the PDP LABAN objectives.

Another leader of the group, Councilor Rommel Agan said he is happy with the recent political development in the city. He said this is the start of a new chapter in the political history of the city. — HG
PDP LABAN Secretary General Joey De Venecia was also present during the oath-taking. He thanked the new members for believing in the party and said that he hopes  the local members will continue to remain active and support the party in all its undertakings.

The local PDP LABAN will now have a re-organization in preparation for the elections in 2013.
