2 bombs for blast fishing recovered PDF Print E-mail

Barangay officials of Mercedes recovered two improvised explosives used for blast fishing along the shoreline of Mulu-Muluan last Monday morning.

A police report disclosed that members of the barangay auxiliary led by Councilman Cesar Lago were conducting foot patrol along the shoreline at Sitio Bilang-Bilang, Mulu-Muluan around 8:35 a.m. when they spotted an anchored banca.

The barangay officials noticed that the boat appeared to have been abandoned by its owner on suspicious circumstance. The team approached the banca) and found two home-made bombs aboard.
Police said the two bombs were made of ammonium nitrate that was sealed inside 8- ounce softdrinks bottles.

Initial investigation showed that the recovered explosives are being used for blast fishing.       The two bombs were taken to the Culianan Police Station and were later turned over to the police’s Bomb Squad for proper disposition. — Dan Toribio Jr.
