A notorious big-time human trafficker from Manila  was arrested by government forces in a  joint operation last Thursday at the Zamboanga City wharf.

Chief Insp.  Alex Lorenzo,  Philippine Center for Transnational Crime Western Mindanao Field Office chief, said that Grace Arduna while waiting to board a commercial vessel bound for Sabah, Malaysia, was spotted and collared by law enforcers at the terminal.

“Matagal na namin siya hinahanap ng dahil sa kaso niya na illegal recruitment,” Lorenzo said.

Arduna’s arrest was carried out on the strength of a warrant docketed under criminal case number 07-252768-69 for estafa and illegal recruitment without bail bond issued by Judge Jose Mendoza of National Capital Judicial Region Branch 55 in Manila.

Lorenzo revealed Arduna has been operating illegally nationwide from one place to another.

The operating units which made the arrest are Regional Maritime Unit 9, Naval Intelligence Group of Western Mindanao, NBI,  Bureau of Immigration 9, DOJIACAT and IG-CTD.

Arduna was temporarily detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office’s Police Station 2 waiting to be transferred and airlifted to Metro Manila.
