A 72-year-old woman and her two minor grandaughters were killed by intruders who broke into their house at dawn Wednesday in Barangay Limook, Lamitan City, Basilan.

A police report said  Nelita Barbosa and her two grandaughters were discovered dead by her daughter Marites Wednesday morning.

A ocular investigation made by the PNP’s Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) apparentlyshowed the assailants struck the victims with a piece of wood          Police investigators said Nelida was first to be slain before her two grand daughters.

Post mortem examination showed the two young girls were raped before they were killed.

Lamitan City police later arrested a suspect identified as Ronald  Pahunao, 32, a farmer and native of Titay,  Zamboanga Sibugay.

Witnesses tagged Pahunao as one of those drinking Tuesday night near the victims’  house in Barangay Limook.

Lamitan City police chief Sr. Insp. Gean Gallardo said Pahunao was immediately held as a suspect after his flashlight was recovered beside one of the victims’ body.
