The Regional Health Service 9 recently  conducted a free medical and dental mission and free circumcision at the Center for Children in Conflict with Law in Barangay Culianan. The mission was dubbed as “Alay Pagmamahal”.

Supt. Abita A. Mates, chief, RHS9, said the mission was requested by City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin M. Agbulos.  The total number of patients served were  23 children — 10 given medical consultations, eight dental treatment tooth extractions and five free circumcision.

The medical team was composed of Supt. Jeanurada J. Macario, CInsp. Modesto G. Mecaydor, SInsp. Faith G. Tabugo, Sinsp.Jubaira N. Pandaog, Insp.Teodelito D. Cabasal, SPO3 Victoriano B. Miana II, PO3 Antonio C. Bayron and Non Uniform Personnel Agnes D. Catalon.

On the other hand, the Police Regional Office 9’s Regional Public Safety Battalion-9 donated 12.6 liters of blood to the Zamboanga City Medical Center Blood Bank. The donors were 28 police troopers.

According to Mates, PRO9’s RHS 9 had entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Zamboanga City Medical Center in  2006 to donate blood in the Blood Bank of the hospital. It includes mission to increase the amount of blood reserves for PRO9 uniformed personnel. The RHS 9 personnel demonstrated valuable operational support to PRO9 by maintaining adequate amount of blood  reserves available for PNP uniformed personnel especially to battle casualties. — Allen Abastillas
