Mayor Beng Climaco on Saturday turned over 3 brand new pick-up vehicles to the police to help the authorities boost their anti-crime efforts.

The vehicles were intended for Police Station 1 in Vitali, Police Station 2 in Curuan and Police Station 3 in Sangali. The turnover was held in Vitali in the presence of City Police OIC Director PSupt. Luisito Magnaye and other city officials along with barangay officials from Vitali and other barangays in the east coast.

Climaco said the donation of the 3 pick-up vehicles is another batch of assistance from the local government in line with its priority thrust on security under her Security Health and Education (SHE) program.

As the City government constantly supports the police and other law enforcement agencies, the security sector has to exhaust all its efforts to ensure the safety and protection of every resident of the city.

The pick-up vehicles are branded Mahindra enforcer Back-to-Back pick up similar to those recently acquired and turned over by PNP-Manila to provincial police in Zamboanga Peninsula.

The 3 vehicles are funded by the City Government and were acquired through the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

Mayor Climaco assured that more transportation facilities and other equipment are set for turnover to the police.

The City Government from 2013 to 2015 has allocated over P500 million for support to peace and order and are not turned over to the police not in cash form but in the form of transportation facilities, infrastructures, firearms and ammunitions, communication facilities, fuel, office supplies and allowances for police personnel among others. — Sheila Covarrubias
