Good news to food trippers and people who love to cook.

The Department of Tourism-9, in partnership with the Zamboanga City Tourism Office, will showcase local cuisines, recipes and delicacies on March 19,2016 at Central Latino. The one day activity is dubbed as “Savor”.

Invited participants are from Hotel and Restaurant businesses, colleges and univerisities offering Hotel and Restaurant courses, travel and tour agencies, tourism clubs and many other groups related to tourism.

DOT-9 Director Mary June Bugante said the “ Savor” activity is an offshoot of 1st Flavor of the Philippines, a successful month-long gastronomic event launched by the Dept. of Tourism/ Tourism Promotion Board on April 2015 in Manila.

The Flavor of the Philippines activity of DOT will also celebrate a nationwide food festival on April 1 to 30,2016.

Bugante said Flavor of the Philippines 2016 will showcase the best of Filipino cuisines through various activities such as regional food festivals, gourmet delights by celebrity chefs in various hotels and restaurants, food tours, bar crawls, tapas festival, farm trips, gastronomy related events and many more.

Malls and weekend markets will also feature their own food offerings. Flavors of the Philippines celebrates Philippine history, arts, literature, culture and music through food. — Allen Abastillas
