Barely a day after being test run, a mini Fire Buster conceived by Baliwasan Barangay Chairman Jaime “Boday” Cabato prevented what could have been another big fire in a heavily populated area in Baliwasan Seaside.

Already ablaze, the timely response of the three-wheeled-run  1-ton capacity water tank, effectively put out the fire.

Barangay folks in Baliwasan largely credited the Cabato- intellectualized  mini Fire Buster for the feat, saying that if they had to wait for outside help as that from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire could have already engulped the nearby dwellings of light materials.

It is notable, in back of the burning site, where no fire truck can penetrate, are hundreds of houses compacted elbow-to-elbow.

The mini Fire Buster was delivered to the Baliwasan Barangay government in the afternoon of March 1, the day Fire Prevention Month was ushered in. It was immediately tested along the road leading to Cabatangan, with Cong. Celso Lobregat present, and even did some personal testings of his own taking hold of the water nozzle, and training it to the vacant rice field.

The conceptualized and improvised fire fighting equipment was procured utilizing the Barangay’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management funds.  Baliwasan has two of such units.
