Zamboanga City joins other parts of the country in the simultaneous conduct of “In Her Shoes” program which forms part of the Women’s month celebration this March.

Organized by the National Youth Commission (NYC) in partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga, In Her Shoes is a symbolic activity where men will walk in women’s high-heeled shoes to understand and reflect on the plight or struggles of women in the society. Walking in heels is also a representation men’s solidarity for the promotion of gender sensitivity and equality.

Mayor Beng Climaco, chairperson of the Gender and Development (GAD) program in the city, has invited all stakeholders/sectors to the walk on Monday, March 7 starting at the Paseo del Mar at 6:30am to the City Hall grounds where a short program will follow coinciding with the flag raising ceremony.

The city government last March 8 kicked off the celebration of Women’s month with Marcha de las Mujeres, a march participated by both women and men intended to raise funds for the women and children of the Social Development Center including women inmates at the City Reformatory Center and several others.
