At least 34 passengers, including 2 minors, were injured in a head-on collision between two buses late Sunday afternoon in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Chief Superintendent Miguel Antonio Jr., Western Mindanao police director, told the Philippine Star that the accident occurred along a curve in the highway in Purok 5 in Barangay Tigpalay and involved Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. buses with body numbers 9502 and 9554 driven by Felipe Toloron, 39, and Wilbert Casaba, 48, respectively.

Antonio said the bus that Toloron was driving was bound for Ipil town when it was hit by the other bus, which had strayed onto his lane while negotiating the curve in the road.

Those injured, including both bus drivers, were rushed to different hospitals in Zamboanga Sibugay and this city for treatment. Antonio said most of the injured passengers were either residents of this city or from the Zamboanga Peninsula. Two of the passengers were from Davao City.
