An old mendicant woman was killed after she was hit by a stray bullet fired from the gun of a drunk along Tomas Claudio St. at dawn yesterday.
The fatality was identified as Hapipay Hailil of Sitio Caragasan, Maasin. She sustained a bullet wound in the head and died on the spot.

It was gathered that the gunman, believed to be a man in uniform, was inside a massage parlor along Tomas Claudio St. at past 2 a.m. when his wife arrived and quarreled him.
The man got angry, went outside the massage parlor and rode his motorcycle.

But before he drove his motorcycle, he pulled out his pistol and fired on the sidewalk near a bakery.
The bullet hit Hailil who was sleeping outside the bakery.

The gunman sped away while the incident was reported to the police.

Policemen under City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin were still coordinating with the management of the bakery for review of the recorded close-circuit-television camera that could have taken footage of the gunman during the incident.

The bakery has surveillance cameras outside where the shooting incident happened. — Dan Toribio Jr.
