The Philippine National Police Maritime Group conducted on Wednesday a seaborne patrol operation  in Basilan Strait  and Zamboanga City sea coastal water areas.

Supt. Salbino Piad, chief of the Regional Maritime Unit-9,  personally accompanied Maritime Group National Headquarters Deputy Director for Operations Sr. Supt. Jonathan V. Ablang in the seaborne operation.

They were joined Insp. Edmund Lazaro, SPO1Precile Cordero and SPO1 Rochelle  Bakingkito with troopers of the command in the different areas in Basilan and Zamboanga City aboard two speedboats.

Piad said that aside from the actual seaborne patrol operation,  Ablang’s team also conducted performance audit compliance on Performance Governance System ( PGS ) and “heart to heart” talks with RMU-9 troopers  to assess their situation and general welfare.

Ablang told the troopers that they should put on their mind and heart the Performance Governance System ( PGS ).

He said that the Philippine National Police was chosen by the United Nations in its program on economic freedom and investing to people.

“Napili po tayo ng United Nations dahil nasa fronline services po tayo at committed po tayo sa taong bayan magserbisyo”, Ablang said.

He directed the troopers to memorize the mission and programs of the maritime police and the manual of the Performance Governance System ( PGS )  so that they can perform well their mission in safeguarding the people, especially the maritime industry. — Allen Abastillas
