Beng takes in 435 scholars for 2011 PDF Print E-mail

House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao Beng Climaco has enrolled a total of 435 academic scholars for this school year in line with her commitment to education.
The scholarship program, implemented in coordination with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is done annually and is funded by the congresswoman’s Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

The congresswoman regards her yearly scholarship grant as one of the initiatives to help the youth become productive citizens and ultimately to solve poverty.
“Let us help make the children’s future a reality today” is the lady solon’s theme in all her advocacies for the youth.

All throughout the year, the lady solon involves the scholars in many activities in the 1st Congressional district as she advocates the virtue of paying it forward.
The scholars are studying at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) and the Zamboanga City State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZCSMST).

Last year, Climaco’s congressional office took in over 300 scholars.
The orientation set on July 14 will also be attended by CHED officials and representatives from other agencies concerned including some barangay officials. — Marvin Segura
