Nine persons aboard a fishing boat engaging in illegal fishing were apprehended off Talusan, ZamboangaS ibugay last Sunday afternoon.

A report from the Police Regional Office-9  disclosed that men of the Talusan Municipal Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Rustom Bromina with members of the BantayDagat were conducting seaborne patrol around 2:30 p.m. when they spotted a pumpboat using  hulbot-hulbot fishing gear.

Police said the fishing boar engaging in illegal fishing in a fish sanctuary.

Police immediately called their attention and apprehended the boat.

The nine fishermen were identified as RomnickNasalga, 25,  Felipe Pene, 35,  Mark Anthony Samedara, 18,Gemar Caballero, 24, Alan Illustrado, 40,ReniereNasalga, 39, Jason Lapina, 27,EmmanYapan, EdmarHayao all from Buluan, Ipil, ZamboangaSibugay.

The nine fishermen and the owner of the boat will be charged for violation of Municipal Ordinance  No. 021-2008. – Dan Toribio
