2 Abu linked bombers arrested in Sangali PDF Print E-mail

Security forces arrested in Sangali Sunday night two suspected bombers with links to the Basilan-based Abu Sayyaf group.

Chief Insp. Gary Bahoy, Sangali Police Station commander, said Allan Ajijun y Aging, 30, and Asbi Jama y Tandi, 21, both of Tumalutab were nabbed in possession of improvised explosive sevice (IED) components.

Bahoy said the duo’s arrest was carried out during an operation by operatives of his station backed-up by men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company, Naval Intelligence Special Group, Field Station Western Mindanao, PCTC, PAOCC, FSSWM, AISG, PCG, Bomb Squad and other units, around 7:40 p.m.

Confiscated from the suspects’ possession were six blasting caps, two commercial time red fuse measuring 10-inch long and six-inch long and two kilograms of ammonium nitrate.

The suspects were detained at the Sangali Police station while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

In an interview, Bahoy told DZT that they have been conducting surveillance on the activities of Ajijun and Jama as their names appeared to be the persons who have been buying IED components in the city then travel to Basilan aboard a motorized pumpboat.

Bahoy said that his office have readied charges the suspects. – Dan Toribio
