“We’ll support in anyway we can and learn issues not only in Mindanao but the Muslim world.”
Thus said Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas Ng Bayan (PDP-LABAN) Secretary General Joey de Venecia III during the “interfaith dialogue towards interfaith understanding in Muslim communities in the Philippines,” held at a local hotel, the other day.

The dialogue was jointly sponsored by Magbassa Kita Foundation and the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy (PCID) were attended by leading Muslim leaders and scholars from Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi (ZAMBASULTA).

The hosts’ primordial concern is to reach for a working collaboration with PDP-LABAN to push Muslim interest in other parts of the nation.
De Venecia said Mindanao is not reaping its social development and need to be allowed to stand alone for economic development.
“Get the needs of Mindanao and whatever is left should go to the coffers of government,” De Venecia said.

De Venecia known for being the ‘whistle blower’ of the multi-million-dollar ZTE deal scam during the administration of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has appealed to address corruption as a springboard for development.

“I think the focus should continue to attack on corruption, poverty, jobs and education,” De Venecia added.

Meanwhile, De Venecia lauded the administration of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino as the administration has initially solved poverty for the declined of Hungry Index from 21% to 16% with additional 1 million people who are not suffering hunger nationwide. — MLF
