2 Army intel operatives killed in Sulu ambush PDF Print E-mail

An Abu Sayyaf group was blamed for the ambush that killed two army intelligence operatives in Patikul, Sulu Tuesday morning.

Killed were Cpl. Lamustre and Cpl. Apiado, both of the army’s 10th Infantry Battalion. They sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that the two soldiers were riding tandem on a blac motorcycle working their way at Sitio Tibongbong, barangay Iagasan, Patikul, Sulu around 8:10 a.m.  when the group of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Morasil Mudjahirin positioned along the road opened fire on them with M-16 rifles.

Police said that the two intelligence operatives were on their way to Barangay Buhanginan after meeting with some persons known to them when they were ambushed at Sitio Tibongbong.

The gunmen took the victims firearms before fleeing towards a secluded place in Patikul. Government troops conducted hot pursuit operation against the perpetrators. – Dan Toribio Jr.
