Diffferent political parties in Pagadian City as well as other stakeholders signed on Tuesday a covenant for safe and peaceful May 9, 2016.

Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Michael Nicolas said that peace covenant from other municipalities are also scheduled to be signed by other parties.

Recently the municipalities of Bayog and Josefina came up with a peace covenant. The municipalities of Dinas, Labangan and Tukuran have been declared under the Commission on Election watchlists due to intense political rivalry.

Pagadian City Police Chief Sr. Supt. Michael Palermo said the peace covenant signing in the city on Tuesday was conducted because of the political rivalry in the last election in 2013.

“ Hindi pa kasi tinanggal ng COMELEC yong nangyari  last May 2013 election incident,” Palermo said.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office 9 Deputy Regional Director for Operations Sr. Supt. Debold Sinas disclosed that the municipal Treasurer of Kalawit in Zamboanga del Norte turned overan assorted firearms to the Kalawit Police Station for renewal of license and safekeeping with all expired documents.
