Alavar inducts Dulian farmers PDF Print E-mail

District 2 Councilor Miguel “Mike” Alavar III, chairman of the City Council’s Committee on Agriculture, inspired the officers and members of Apasan Land Owners-Farmers Association at Sitio Apasan, Upper Dulian, during its induction of officers Wednesday.

Alavar, the inducting officer during the occasion, cited the importance of having a group or association in a certain sector as the members and the officers can work together and address immediately the problems their cluster is facing.

Alavar also lauded the farmers at Sitio Apasan for despite the remote location, they continue to plant agricultural products like cassava, corn, water melon and upland rice to supply the market for the consumption of the general public.

Alavar likewise highlighted the important role of the farmers in the community as they are the very individuals responsible in providing nutritious food to the people from all walks of life.

The officers inducted are: Retired Col. Fredeswindo Covarrubias, president; Zenaida Luna, vice president for internal affairs and Rogelio Salazar — vice president for external affairs, Joselin Oximar — secretary, Evangelin Lasam — treasurer, Grace Reyes — auditor, Ike Lasam— business manager, Julius Hasandalan — PIO and Jovin Bejerano and Nelson Oximar—Sgt at Arms.

Also present during the affairs were some staff of the Department of Agriculture like Jesus “Pai Chu” Basilio, Roel Cambonga, DA field officer and others.

Meanwhile, the dreams of the residents of Sitio Apasan, Dulian of having a farm-to-market road have come true thru the efforts of Alavar who exerted efforts to open a passable road for the farmers to bring their products to the market.
