A man driving a pickup truck was shot dead in Tetuan Thursday afternoon in what is believed as a case of election violence transported to the city from Sulu.

Gunmen riding tandem on a motorcycle shot the still unidentified victim who was driving a Toyota Hi-Lux along Crispin Atilano Street. He  sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body.

Witnesses said the Hi Lux pick-up truck was passing Crispin Atilano Street shortly before 5 p.m. when two gunmen riding tandem on a motorcycle chased and the backrider shot the driver several times while they were in motion.

Although wounded, the victim continued driving until he reached Candido Street where he bumped a light post few meters away from Allen’s Bakeshop.

Paramedics rushed the to a hospital where he expired while undergoing medical attention.

Ocular investigation conducted by the police disclosed that the vehicle is owned by Akmad Nanoh, a resident of Lorenzo Heights, Putik.

DZT gathered that the vehicle was carrying some election campaign materials like T-shirts.

Police recovered spent shells of unknown caliber t hat was used by gunmen in the shooting.

Policemen were still clueless on the identity of the victim as well the persons who shot him.  —Dan Toribio
