Cash aid to City due to siege reaches P29.44M PDF Print E-mail

Monetary assistance extended to the City Government due to the 2013 Zamboanga crisis has reached P29.44 million as of March 16, 2016.

Of the total amount, a total of P14.387 million has been used for various services aimed to alleviate the plight of families affected by the siege, leaving a balance of P15.054 million.

The amount is under the custody of the City Government and is utilized and spent in accordance with government rules and regulations. It is under the care of the City Treasurer’s Office, City Budget Office and City Accountant’s Office.

The donations started to come in September 26, 2013 or a few days after the start of the siege with the last donation made on October 3, 2014.

Among the donors are the House of Representatives, Senate of the Philippines, Local Government Units, banking institutions, business establishments, shopping malls and retail corporations, private companies, non-government institutions, including Zamboanguenos abroad and other concerned individuals.

The expenses include cleaning and declogging, food supplies, water expenses, surveying expense, purchase of one rescue vehicle, dislodging of septic tanks and construction of modified shelters at Lupa-lupa in Barangay Rio Hondo.
