Mayor Beng Climaco will spearhead the turnover of 164 permanent houses to internally displaced persons (IDPs) today, April 2, in Sta. Barbara.

Constructed under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R), the houses to be turned over include 153 units at the Christian-Muslim Urban Poor Association Inc. Subdivision and 11 houses at the Lustre Homeowners Association Subdivision in Sta. Catalina.

The houses form part of the Z3R program implemented through the National Housing Authority (NHA).

The 153 units at the Christian-Muslim UPAI Subdivision are part of the total 259 units targeted for construction in the area with a total cost of P51.81 million.  The remaining units are ongoing for completion with May 2. 2016 as the completion date.

The 11 housing units for turnover at the Lustre HOA Subdivision, meanwhile, form part of the total 154 units targeted for construction with a total cost of P39.20 million. The first 113 units were turned over to the beneficiaries last July 15.

Both projects in Sta. Barbara and Sta. Catalina are being undertaken by the Bilrey Construction company.

Last March 4, a total of 104 permanent shelters were also turned over in Dubai at the Tulungatung Resettlement Site. — Sheila Covarrubias
