A 33-year-old man was shot and killed after he harassed army soldiers  manning a military detachment in Barangay Muti last Sunday morning.

Hamisul Marani y Asanil, married of Buenavista, sustained a bullet wound in the body and died on the spot.

Police said that Marani entered the premises of the detachment and asked for a glass of water from Cpl. Novil Guzman.

After consuming the glass of water, Guzman advised him to leave the place but he ignored.

At this point, Marani started harassing the soldier and tried to grab Guzman’s rifle.

Marani then picked up some stones and hurled towards the soldiers prompting  Guzman to fire a warning shot.

But police said Marani continued throwing stones on the soldiers on duty that made Guzman to shoot him in the body.

Capt. Ian Kher Oliveros Inot, commanding officer of Company A of the Army’s 21st Infantry Battalion brought Guzman to the Curuan Police Station and turned over to the police as a form of surrender.

The body was claimed by his relatives for a burial in an Islam rites. – Dan Toribio
