Lamitan City Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay on Wednesday  showered barangay health workers of Lamitan with praises, saying they are the unsung heroes in the service of the people in the grassroots.

As the forefront personnel  in communities, barangay health workers serve the villages with utmost dedication, work rain or shine, day and night 24/7 for the people first aid and health assistance without complaints.

“Mayor Rose U. Furigay, myself and the city council would like to express our heartfelt gratitude (to the barangay health workers)  for helping the people,” Furigay said.

The message of Furigay was delivered during the gathering of barangay health workers led by their President Donato Tan. The gathering was held Wednesday at Datu Dizal Cultural Center.

Furigay urged the health workers to choose national leaders in the forthcoming elections who have good track records and best performance in the delivery of quality services most especially on infrastructure, education and  livelihood that uplift the economic status of the Filipino.

He said those who deserved to be elected are leaders who are sincere and faithful and dedicated to lead the people.

Furigay also advised health workers to stay united and solid in their endeavors for the good of the people.

In return, the workers expressed gratitudes to the leadership of the Furigay couple. They said that they are  very happy with all the benefits received from the Furigay leadership, including medical insurance like PhilHealth, education of their children and basic needs of the family.

Furigay was accompanied by Councilors Clarito “ Itoy” San Juan, Noel Baul, Malik A. Uyag, Rima H. Hassan, Sali A. Polo, Joaquin “Boy” Puri Jr., Ajid Dalawis and Donato Tan.

On the other hand, Vice Mayor Furigay said that due to the heat of long summer months, the city serves water to the different municipalities  near Lamitan City. —  Allen Abastillas
