Mayor Beng Climaco urged Zamboangueños to reach out to senior citizens in their areas as she called for the full inclusion of senior citizens in society.

Speaking to around 100 participants of the program on Strengthening Productivity Skills of Federation of Senior Citizens on Friday, April 15, Climaco said there are many senior citizens who have not been reached and who do not get to enjoy the full-range of benefits set specifically for their welfare.

“Our main task is to campaign to all senior citizens, and let them know their benefits and how they are able to get it,” said Climaco as she called on the Office for the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) to reach out to every senior citizen “living in the fringes of society” and the meet the gaps in their needs, especially their medical benefits.

Climaco reiterated her belief that senior citizens are important pillars of society, and that it is the responsibility of local government and its citizens to care and provide for their needs.

“They will be included in the prosperity that God is giving us,” Climaco promised. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
