After several months of consistent lobbying and close coordination, Masepla II transitory site has been energized Monday, according to Mayor Beng Climaco.

Energization of Masepla III transitory site is next in line.

“Masepla II was already energized after a long period because that is one of the concerns of the IDPs (internally displaced persons) through Zamcelco,” the mayor announced in her regular press briefing Monday.

Per records from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), 173 out of the 240 single detached houses at Masepla II were energized by Zamcelco effective Monday afternoon.

CDRRMO head and OIC City Administrator Dr. Elmeir Apolinario said for the other housing units and areas, energization will take place as soon as installation and replacement of circuit breakers will be completed.

He said personnel from the CDRRMO and City Engineer’s Office are trouble shooting service lines due to rampant illegal connection while additional electrician from the General Service Office will be deployed to fast track the work so that Zamcelco linemen can already tap/install the service drop wires.

The energization took a while due to some impediments that required consistent lobbying and close coordination. —Sheila Covarrubias
