The Cash for Work intended for farmers has been deferred temporarily pending the submission and approval of documentary requirements by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

City Agriculturist Diosdado Palacat said that the Office of the City Agriculturist (OCA) has submitted the list of names of the 3,000 farmer-beneficiaries in compliance with the requirements set by the DSWD.

Palacat added that the OCA is now waiting for the DSWD’s signal to proceed with the Cash for Work, which was initially set earlier this week.

The Cash for Work program is an additional aid to be extended to drought-affected farmers to be implemented by the DSWD through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and under the supervision of the OCA.

Under the said program, farmer-beneficiaries will each receive P210 daily in exchange for work that will include desiltation of rivers, irrigation canals and irrigation dams. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
