A long-time supporter of the late mayor Ma. Clara Lobregat was deeply elated when her son appeared in front of him beyond expectation on Wednesday.

Mr. Pablo Midel, 86, a resident of Sta. Maria broke into tears when Congressman Celso Lobregat, accompanied by daughter Looie, stepped into their backyard in Sta. Maria early Wednesday morning to shake his hand and greet him a pleasant good morning.

“Nuay yo expecta que puede guinda na mi casita el anak del demiyo idolo si Ma’am Caling. Igual con su nana, si Celso tiene buen corazon para canamon mga pobre,” Midel said.

He said he cannot remember anymore how many times he had asked for medical assistance from Mrs. Lobrega at their residence  in Nuñez to undergo  regular dialysis for his kidney problem.

“I owe my life to the Lobregat’s, cay si hinde porcausa canila, siguro nuay mas yo ara aqui na mundo,” Midel said.

Midel is suffering from acute kidney malfunction for more than 20 years now and he keeps on fighting for his life just to survive his present serious health state.

Upon learning the story of Midel, Congressman Celso Lobregat turned emotional and held tight the hands of Midel who was teary eyed while relating to the solon his memories of Ma’am Caling and her goodness.

“My mother is a mother to all Zamboangueños, a mother’s love to his children is unconditional and she has proven that by way of helping those who needed it most like Mr. Midel, I just continued her advocacies as an abiding son,” Lobregat said.

The story of Mr. Midel is one of the strength and inspiration of the young Lobregat in his continued mandate of public service to the Zamboangueños. – Dexter Yap
