Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo promises to end contractualization to give workers security of tenure.

Robredo made this promise during the recent vice presidential debate when asked of her plans for the labor sector.

According to Robredo, the usual practice of giving employees a five-month contract by some unscrupulous employers must be stopped.

If stopped, Robredo said workers will be given a regular and stable job and enough income to sustain the needs of their families.

Robredo said contractualization is prohibited by law but some employers managed to find loopholes in the system. She said the law mush be amended to protect the rights and welfare of workers.

A lawyer for the poor, Robredo provided free legal aid to the marginalized sectors of society, including workers, farmers, fishermen and abused women for a long time before becoming the representative of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur.

From sixth place in October, she is now in first place in the recent survey results with less than three weeks to go before the elections.
