A policeman was seriously wounded when a suspected drug pusher resisted and shot him in the body during a buy-bust operation at Resurreccion Drive, Talon-Talon last Saturday afternoon.

Wounded was PO2 Wilfredo Tarroza Bobon, a member of the Tetuan Police Station’s Station Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force. He sustained a lone gunshot wound in the stomach and was rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

A police report disclosed that policemen led by Supt. Nonito Asdai staged a buy-bust operation targeting Almudzner Estino y Hussin, 30, married, around 4:45 p.m.

However after the exchange of marked money and shabu, Bobon entered the house to arrest Estino, but the latter resisted and scuffled with the lawman.

Estino grabbed the service firearm of Bobon until it went off hitting the latter’s stomach.

A back-up team rushed to the house and arrestedEstino and his cohort identified as Fernandez Araji y Iyal, 29, married.

’s team recovered from the suspects’ possession several sachets of shabu, marked money, .38 revolver with three ammunitions and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects were detained at the Tetuan Police Station while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Meanwhile, the same team arrested Aizan Gonzales y Francisco, 18 and Clyde Jude Patagoc y Barba, 17, both of Camino Nuevo.

They were nabbed after they were caught in the act having shabu session at Alfaro Street, Tetuan around 3:35 p.m.

Policemen recovered from their possession a small and one medium size sachets of shabu.

The two were taken to the Tetuan Police Station for further investigation. – Dan Toribio
