2 killed, 13 hurt as bomb for blast fishing exploded PDF Print E-mail

Two persons were killed, while 13 others were wounded when an improvised explosive used for blast fishing prematurely exploded in Barangay Bus-Bus, Jolo, Sulu last Saturday night.

Killed were Kabir Lahol, the house owner,  and Aldea Taing. They sustained fatal injuries in the body and died on the spot.

Some of the wounded were identified as Neba Janji, 15, Nashra Baani, 12, Darwin Tating, 5, Meniraya Elasan, 42, Jeba Tating, 27, Alnica Tating, 16, Fadzrina Tating, 6, Alfha Tating, 5, and Kamliya Espaldon, 63.

A police report disclosed that Lahol was making a  dynamite for blast fishing when some of it prematurely exploded.

Police and military recovered several kilos of ammonium nitrate, the main ingredient of dynamite and some other materials.

The wounded were taken to the hospital for treatment while the two bodies were buried last Sunday. — Dan Toribio
