A man was arrested Monday morning after he was caught cultivating  marijuana (cannabis sativa) in Barangay Lanzones

Culianan Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon identified the suspect as Charlie Agnaya, 23, single, of Lanzones. He was nabbed by policemen led by Solon while he was about to harvest some fully grown marijuana plants.

Solon’s team recovered six fully grown and one newly harvested marijuana plants from a vacant lot where Aganaya was cultivating the prohibited plants.

Solon told DZT that last Sunday some barangay officials of Lanzones reported to him that they have discovered marijuana plants along the hilly portion of the said barangay.

Solon and his men came up with plan to put up an entrapment operation. He immediately sent operatives in the area to observe whoever will go to harvest or maintain the plants.

Yesterday morning policemen spotted Agnaya going to the place and when he arrived at his plants, lawmen immediately arrested him.

Agnaya was detained at the Culianan Police Station for filing of charges for cultivating marijuana plants that is banned under Republic Act 9165.

The confiscated marijuana will be submitted to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination and proper disposition. – Dan Toribio
