What seemed impossible is now happening with Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo taking the lead in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

“Noong nag-uumpisa ako, at least iyong first few months, parang napaka-imposibleng kakayanin na humabol,” Robredo said during a radio interview.

Masayang-masaya kasi sabi ko nga, noong nag-umpisa ako, one percent lang,” she added.

In the latest SWS poll conducted from April 18 to 20 with 1,800 respondents, Robredo has taken the lead with 26 percent, one point ahead of her closest rival Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“Kailangan nating i-maintain iyong lead kaya ipinagdadasal natin na iyong 14 days enough para ma-maintain natin iyon,” said Robredo, thanking her supporters and volunteers for their untiring support in the campaign.

“Malapit na malapit na pero tingin ko naman, mabuti naman iyong naging resulta ng ilang buwan na pag-iikot,” she added.

This marked the first time Robredo has led a face-to-face survey, though she topped the Bilang Pilipino April 13 and 14 SWS Mobile Survey Report and the SWS post-debate mobile survey last April 17.

Robredo garnered 30 percent in the Bilang Pilipino April 13 and 14 SWS Mobile Survey, three points ahead of Marcos.

In the SWS post-debate survey, Robredo was picked as clear winner by 33 percent of respondents.

A lawyer for the poor, Robredo provided free legal aid to the marginalized sectors of society, including farmers, fishermen and abused women for a long time before becoming the representative of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur.

According to Sen. Serge Osmena and some political analysts, the race for the vice presidency is a two-way fight between Robredo and Marcos.
