A blast fisherman lost his right hand while his companion was slightly injured when a dynamite used for blast fishing prematurely exploded in their midst while fishing off Taluksangay last Tuesday afternoon.

Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon, Culianan Police Station chief, identified those injured as Sulaiman Asa y Hassan and Yusop Aminulla y Hadkiri, 18, both of Purok 4, Taluksangay.

A police report disclosed that Asa and Aminulla were fishing around 1:55 p.m. when  Asa saw a school of fish that prompted him to light a dynamite.

However the dynamite prematurely exploded while in his hand.

Police said that Asa’s right hand was amputated aside from injuries in the body that he and Aminulla have sustained.

Other fishermen helped them bring to the hospital. – Dan Toribio
