Mayor Beng Climaco has cited the importance of information and communication technology (ICT) in the ongoing recovery efforts at building a better Zamboanga.

Climaco told a gathering of ICT enthusiasts that her leadership fueled by young minds and young people “because we believe in an idea and once we it needs people not only dreamers but actors as well.”

She said the idea of making ICT a part of governance has earned an award for the city government under her administration.

The chief executive graced Tuesday the launching rites for the Zamboanga Innovation Hub-Technology Business Incubator (ZIH-TBI) by the Zamboanga ICT Council in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the ICT Office.

Director Maria Teresa Camba of the ICT Office Mindanao Cluster 1 said the TBI serves as a facility that provides adequate and nurturing services to technopreneurs.

“This will enhance synergy between industry, academe and government, and to foster entrepreneurship and incubating new innovative companies, and ensure continuing human capacity development,” Director Camba said.
