A blast fisherman was arrested and jailed after he exploded in anger a  dynamite in the populated shore of Taluksangay last Thursday night.

Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon, Culianan Police station chief, identified the suspect as Latip Jainuddin, 40, married.

Solon said that Jainuddin was arrested by responding policemen and was placed behind bars pending the filing of charges in court.

Initial investigation showed that Jainuddin’s wife Zoraida figured in an altercation around 8:30 p.m. with some neighbors due to misunderstanding.

Amid the confrontation, Latip took a dynamite used for blast fishing and walked more or less 50 meters away from their house where he lighted exploded it on the shore.

The incident triggered panic among neighbors who reported it to the police resulting in his arrest.

Solon said the suspect will be brought to city prosecutor office for inquest proceeding. – Dan Toribio
