The Interreligious Solidarity Movement for Peace (IRSMP) convened last Monday its partners from the various religious groups through their representatives in a special meeting with Regional         Director Dennison Abiddin of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

The special meeting was an offshoot of the many preparations held by the Calendar Technical Committee for the 2012 Gregorian and 1433 Hijrah Calendar. As the movement sees the inspiration of educating the masses on interfaith dialogue and peace education, they decided to invite Director Abiddin.

In a statement, Abiddin said NCMF is mandated as a government institution to spearhead the observance of the Muslim Legal Holidays as provided for in Presidential Dcree 1083 otherwise known as the Code of Muslim personal Laws of the Philippines.

The calendar Technical Committee headed by Prof. Ali T. Yacub, AL-Hj, chairman of the Golden Crescent Consortium of Peace Builders and Affiliates,  expressed appreciation on the director for his immediate response to the invitation made by IRSMP.

Notably, IRSMP through PAZ has developed a strong project that enhances Muslim and Christian relations through the Combined Gregorian and Hijrah calendar. Evidently, IRSMP spearheaded the project as it covers various communities in Mindanao and other areas in  the country. — AA
