Just like her husband Robin Padilla, actress/host Mariel Padilla supports Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as president but wants Liberal Party (LP) candidate Leni Robredo as vice president.

On her social media account, Mariel said Duterte and Robredo are both from the province and are both living simple lives.

“I love how they are both from the province, I love how simple they live their lives and I know that they are the change that our country is desperate for,” said Mariel.

Aside from Mariel, actress Angelica Panganiban joined the growing list of movie and television personalities who have expressed support for the Liberal Party vice presidential candidate.

Panganiban declared on her social media account that Robredo is her vice presidential candidate from Day 1.

Aside from Panganiban and Mariel, actor John Arcilla, who portrayed the role of Gen. Antonio Luna in the critically acclaimed movie, “Heneral Luna”, also declared support for Robredo.

“I know tuloy-tuloy na ito kasi Leni’s image is not a product of a PR group or whatsoever, she’s just being herself. It is her genuine intention and sincerity that will make her an affective public servant,” Arcilla said in a statement.

The other movie and TV personalities who recently backed Robredo’s candidacy include Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, Paula Peralejo, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Juan Miguel Rivera Severo, Cooky Chua, Meds Marfil, Gabe Mercado, Vin Dancel, Cogie Domingo, Edgar Allan Guzman, Yan Yuzon, Shamaine Buencamino and Tutti Caringal.

Ateneo basketball star player Kiefer Ravena also endorsed Robredo, saying she’s “sincere, rooted in the basic problems in society, consistent in her actions, Leni Robredo represents what we want in a leader.”

“A public servant more than a politician, Leni bravely leads her family, her province, and soon, her country with good core values that I share. That’s why I trust her,” added Ravena.

Earlier, Kris Aquino, Sharon Cuneta, Maricel Soriano, Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto, Dingdong Dantes, Enchong Dee, Agot Isidro, Bea Binene, and singer/composer Jim Paredes have expressed support for Robredo.

A lawyer for the poor, Robredo provided free legal aid to the marginalized sectors of society, including farmers, fishermen and abused women for a long time before becoming the representative of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur.

According to Sen. Serge Osmena and some political analysts, the race for the vice presidency is now just a two-way fight between Robredo and Marcos.
